                                            Prior  to  his  enlistment,  he 
                                           was  a  marine  electrician  in 
                                
               Vancouver.  He was  graduated 
                                      from Vancouver High  School and 
                                           later  attended  University 
                                     of Portland.  His wife,'  the  former 
                                         Marian  Clark,  resides  at  4106 
                              Fir Street Vancouver,  and his parents Mr. and

                                             couver, from second to first lieu-  I 
                                             tenant  has  been  announced  by 
                                             Brig.  Gen.  Jesse  Auton,  com- 
                                             fighter  wing,  according  to  re- 
                                             manding  general  of  the  65th re-
                                             ports  this  morning.  Lt.  Chered- 
                                             nik  is the wing  security officer, 
                                             and  he *served a  tour  of  duty 
                                             as  a.  pilot  with  the  Eighth  air 
Force. 

                                His  mother,   Mrs.  D. Cherednik,  is  a  resident  of 
                                1917 Harney Street of Vancouver, Washington.

                                          Aviation  Cadet  Pete  Cherdnik,
                                       son  of Mr.  and Mrs.  D. Cherednik 
                                       1917 Harney st,  has com 
                                      pleted  his  basic  flying  training
                                      at  the  Merced  Amy  Air  Field, 
                                      Calf., an announcement  from the I
                                      field  says,  adding,  he  will  now; 
                                      proceed  to  an  army advanced:
                                      flying school  to  attain his silver
                                      pi1ot wings.  

                                           An  award  for  establihing a
                                      new  physical  fitness record
                                      among  aviation  cadets  at  Luke 
                                      mark I Field, Arizona,, was made  to Lt.,
                                      Peter  D.  Cherednik,  son  of  Mr. 
                                      and  Mrs. D.  Cherednik,  1917
                                      Harney  street  at  the  AAF.
                                      Training  Command  school.  Lt.
                                      Cherednik  also  received  his
                                      commission  as a  second  lieuten-
                                      ant and his pilot's wings  at  the
                                      same  time.  The  award  was 
                                      based  on his  record  of  one hun-
                                      dred  and  fourteen  body lifts,
                                      twenty-three  chin-ups,  and  the 
                                      three  hundred-yard  shuttle  run 
                                      in  forty-four  seconds,  Lt.  Cher-
                                      ednik  attended  Vancouver  high
                                      School  and  University  of  Port-
                                      land,  where  he  played  football.

                                       Lt.. Pete D. Cherednik  of  Van-
                                       couver  is  now  statiolled  at
                                       Bruning  Army  Air  Field,  Neb.,
                                       where  he  is  receiving  training
                                       in  the  P-47  Thunderbolt  fighter
                                       plane. A  graduate of Vancouver
                                       high  school, he was employed
                                       at  Kaiser  yard  prior  to  his en- 
                                       listment  in  the  army in  Octo- 
                                       ber  of  1942.  In April  of  this
                                       year  he won  his  commission .at
                                       Luke  field, Ariz.  Lt.  Cherednlk,
                                       1917  Harney  st.,  and  his wife, 
                                       Marion,  also  resides  in  Vancou- 
                                       ver,

                                       From air service command sta- 
                                       tion  in England comes infoma-
                                       tion that Second Lieutenant Pete 
                                       D.  Cherednik,  son of' Mr.  and
 
                                       Mrs.  D.  Cherednik of  1917 Har-
                                       ney  st.,  recently  completed  an
                                       orientation  course  designed  to
                                       bridge  the gap between  traimng
                                       in  the  states  and  combat  sold-
                                       diering  against  the  enemy  in
                                       France.  At  the air  service com-
                                       mand &ation  Lt.  Clierednik  at-
                                       tended  a  series  of  lectures  giv-
                                       en by veterans of  this command,
                                       which  included  instruction  on
                                       chemical  warfare  defense  and
                                       pertinent tips on staying healthy
                                       ln  a combat zone.  Before enter-
                                       ing  the  AAF  he was  employed
                                       as an  electrician  by  the  Kaiser
                                       shipyard  here.
